Learning to Clean Like The Pro's

A few years ago, I realized that I didn't really know how to keep my house clean. There were always dishes sitting in the sink, and I couldn't keep up with laundry if my life depended on it. However, a friend of mine suggested working with a professional maid, and so I took her advice. As she worked, I watched her methods, and I learned a lot. This blog is dedicated to my cleaning studies. Here, you will find information on how to clean your house more effectively, so that you can stop wasting time on certain jobs. My plan is that this website could help you to live better than ever. Thanks for reading!

What Does Carpet Cleaning Actually Do?

Blog

You know that carpet cleaning is supposed to remove dirt and stains and make the carpet look better, but what does it really do? What exact actions are happening to make the carpet look and smell better? Carpet cleaning, when done properly, does a number of things to bring the carpet back to life. It doesn't matter what method is used as long as it's done correctly and repeated until any water runs clear.

Remove Dirt That Is Stuck at the Base of the Fibers

Cleaning removes dirt, but proper cleaning removes dirt that is stuck at the base of the carpet fibers. This is why some carpets turn dirty again soon after cleaning; whoever cleaned did not get all that stuck dirt out, and it's working its way up through the fibers again. Cleaning to the point where the extracted water is clear ensures all that dirt is gone.

Remove Allergen Particles

Vacuuming picks up a lot of allergens like pollen and pet dander, but those and other particles can become lodged in the carpet fibers. Vacuums may not be able to pull those out, and then full carpet cleaning becomes necessary to remove the particles from the fibers.

Prevent Excessive Wear on Carpet Fibers

The dirt particles that get caught in the carpet fibers actually damage them. This creates the appearance of faster wear, leading you to replace the carpet sooner than you wanted to. By cleaning and removing the dirt, you save the carpet fibers and help them last longer because you've removed the very thing that was causing damage.

Lift Matted Carpet Pile

All that cleaning and extraction help lift up carpet pile that's been matted down due to foot traffic. Dirt helps keep the pile compacted until it (the dirt) is removed. The result is carpet pile that stands up straighter. Of course, more foot traffic and dirt will start pushing the pile down again, but that's why you have the carpet cleaned periodically and not just once in its lifetime.

Remove Particles That Create Odor

Along with removing dirt and allergens, the cleaning removes particles that cause odor. These can be smoke particles, pet urine particles, and more. If the carpet still smells after cleaning, it means that not all of the particles were removed.

Carpet cleaning does not take long, and the result is so nice. Imagine starting the day with a dirty, stale-smelling carpet and ending the day with a bright, clean, fresh-smelling carpet!
