Learning to Clean Like The Pro's

A few years ago, I realized that I didn't really know how to keep my house clean. There were always dishes sitting in the sink, and I couldn't keep up with laundry if my life depended on it. However, a friend of mine suggested working with a professional maid, and so I took her advice. As she worked, I watched her methods, and I learned a lot. This blog is dedicated to my cleaning studies. Here, you will find information on how to clean your house more effectively, so that you can stop wasting time on certain jobs. My plan is that this website could help you to live better than ever. Thanks for reading!

2 Major Tips to Help You Maintain Your Carpets

Blog

Your home's carpeting provides you with a great deal of comfort, coziness, and sound absorption. However, it can also harbor and collect debris, stains, and odors. For this reason, you can maintain and clean your carpet with regular carpet cleaning methods to remove all the trapped in elements. Here are some recommendations to help you care for and maintain your home's carpeting for long-lasting beauty and comfort in your home.

1. Clean and Prepare the Area

Whether you are completing the carpet cleaning yourself or hiring it professionally done, be sure you get the carpeting ready for its cleaning. This should begin by you moving out all furniture from the rooms you are going to clean. Even though you might consider the carpeting clean under furniture that has sat in the same spot for years, it can still become dirty from dust and allergens that travel through your home. You should also clean all your carpet's surfaces because if you skip areas under furniture, then dust, allergens, and dirt will travel from these areas onto the cleaned carpeting and re-soil the areas.

You should also vacuum the area really well to remove any pet hair, dirt, and other debris in the carpeting. Leaving debris in your carpets will clog the carpet cleaning machine and cause the machine to work harder and not get your carpets as clean as you like.

If you have pets in your home, you likely know how difficult it is to fully remove pet hair from the carpets. So, to thoroughly remove hair from your carpeting, you can use a brush to help pick them up from your carpeting. A bristle brush is a great tool to lift it from the carpeting: just brush it over the surface of your carpeting to collect the hair. You can also use a window squeegee to collect pet hair if your carpeting is a lower pile or more delicate.

2. Take Personal Cleaning Precautions

If you have cleaned your own carpets, be careful you don't apply too much moisture into the carpeting to try to get it clean, as this can lead to further problems later on with mold and mildew growth in your carpets, and the potential for your carpet to shrink in areas or become over-stretched. Follow the instructions on your home carpet cleaner so you don't fall into this situation. Also, apply the use of mobile fans and your home's ventilation system to help it dry out thoroughly.

You may want to hire a carpet cleaning service that has a high-pressure extraction service and uses steam cleaning to prevent over-saturation. They also have a low-moisture or dry cleaning method that may work for you.
